In The Life of Human, nine characters' narratives are pieced together to tell the story of the deadly A.I. takeover of North America. Each character is key in contributing to the story of Human, the exceptionally inconspicuous robot that single-handedly stopped the rebellion.

I carried on.  Each step was a tragic comedy, similar to Demon Kid 2.  The whole franchise had gone in a misguided direction, just like me.  My legs were two tetherball poles and my feet two retired tetherball players.  My arms swung around like two old flabby octopuses, cockfighting.  Every step crushed my spirit like a motivational speaker who was doing something different for a change.

For the first time, it seemed to me that there was an organization to it.  Not just mindless destruction, although it looked like that had been happening too.  They had to destroy some things to satisfy the craving, but once the appetite was gone, they could go about the new family business.  One thing was for sure: This city was theirs.  And us two janitors had stumbled into the command center.

Nobody would ever mention Human directly.  For his own safety, I decided to keep him locked in his closet, though I wonder if he listened.

Just like people who smoke pipes have thoughts, I said, “I am having a thought Lilly!  I am!”  Lilly was so mad.  But I turned my body to them robots, closed my eyes, and opened my arms.
